The President of the Circuit Court, the Honourable Mr Justice Keenan Johnson issued the following notice:

Please note that as and from the 1st day of October 2026, all cases where a notice of trial has issued will be treated as being ready to go on.

No application for adjournment of such cases will be granted except for exceptional and compelling reasons such as the death or serious illness of one the parties or an essential witness.

Where a case that has been listed for hearing and is not ready to go on, the notice of trial will be struck out unless the reason for not being able to proceed with the hearing is due to exceptional circumstances or that the making of such an order would be manifestly unjust to one or both of the parties or would facilitate a party who is not progressing their side of the case in a timely and efficient manner. Coming into effect on Tuesday the 1st September, along with a number of other points to note, as per paragraph 27, all Affidavits and witness statements must contain the following declaration:

“I declare that Generative Artificial Intelligence has not been used for the purposes of generating the substantive content of this [witness statement/affidavit] (including by way or altering, embellishing, strengthening, diluting or rephrasing the evidence set out) and that this [witness statement/affidavit] reflects my personal knowledge, recollection and evidence.”

It appears that anything sworn before the 1st September is okay to file without it.

The Family Circuit Court Office will not be processing any paperwork after 1 pm on the 20th August but will have a dropbox available that afternoon from 1 pm. The counter will be open as usual from 9.30 am to 1 pm.

The Dublin Civil Circuit and District Court offices, including the Stamping Office will be closed on Friday the 21st August. Please send anything urgent or that will be statute barred on the 21st August by midday on Thursday 20th August at the latest to guarantee the deadline is not missed.

There will be a Positive Callover of all cases set down for the Galway Personal Injuries List on Thursday the 4^th June 2026 on a Hybrid basis at 10.30 O’ Clock before Mr Justice O’ Connor to fix dates for the Sittings commencing the 6^th July 2026.

Please note that where there is no appearance by either side or matters are not in a position to proceed the Court may strike out the Notice of Trial or adjourn the matter generally with liberty to re-enter.
