The GDPR Celebrates it’s First Birthday

Coinciding with the first anniversary of the General Data Protection Regulation on May 25th was the reappointment of Helen Dixon as the Data Protection Commissioner for another five years.

With regards to her renewed role, she said:   

I welcome the Government’s early decision and announcement in relation to my reappointment as Commissioner for a second term. At this early but critical juncture of GDPR implementation and enforcement, continuity is important to drive clarity for organisations around the standards they must meet in order to effectively safeguard the data protection rights of service users, consumers and citizens. It is a privilege to serve in this role and to work with the dedicated staff of the Data Protection Commission. Our fellow EU data protection authorities count on us to effectively supervise the large internet platforms headquartered in Ireland and we are committed to this task.”

Callover of Waterford/Kilkenny Personal Injury List

The callover of the Galway Personal Injury List of cases to commence at Galway on the 27th May to the 6th June will take place at the Four Courts, Dublin on Friday 3rd May 2019.

Callover of Dundalk Personal Injury List

The callover of the Dundalk Personal Injury list fixing for Dundalk High Court commencing May 13th 2019 will take place before Mr. Justice Keane at the Four Courts in Dublin on Tuesday 30th April 2019.

If you require us to attend or make an application on your behalf you should forward your instructions to reach us no later than 3pm on Friday the 26th April, this is to ensure that all applications are properly prepared and recorded by us in advance of the callover. Late instructions received after this time must be followed up with a phone call to John Byrne of this office to ensure that he is in a position to deal with same. No instructions can be taken on the morning of the callover.

Article 64 Callover Update

The Court of Appeal office has given notice that a callover of the list will take place on the 3rd April 2019 at 10 o’clock, Court no 1 in the Court of Appeal Building. 

The list will comprise of appeals where submissions of the appellant have been lodged pursuant to directions given at the callover lists in Easter term 2018, together with any other appeals in the List to Fix Dates deferred from the 8th November 2018. Keep reading →
