Important Notice Regarding County Registrar Motions Lists

The Courts Service have issued the following notice:
To reduce the current waiting times for hearing dates for Civil Motions before the Dublin County Registrar, caused by the Covid-19 restrictions, the following will apply:
  • All matters with hearing dates for the 04th October 2022 & 11th October 2022 will now be heard on the 04th April 2022.
  • All matters with hearing dates for the 18th October 2022 & 25th October 2022 will now be heard on the 05th April 2022.
  • All matters with hearing dates for the 01st November 2022 will now be heard on the 07th April 2022.
  • All matters with hearing dates for  the 08th November 2022 & 15th November 2022 will now be heard on the 26th April 2022.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: From the 14th March, Booklets of Pleadings can be Handed into the County Registrar’s Court on the Day

Practitioners please note the following important update issued by the Courts Service:

With effect from the 14th March 2022 the requirement to lodge Booklets of Pleadings /Motion Booklets for the Dublin County Registrar Court Lists, in the Dublin Civil Office and Dublin Family Law Office, will cease.

Due to the easing of restrictions, the Dublin County Registrar Courts will revert to pre pandemic practices where the Booklet of Pleadings/Motion Booklets are to be handed into Court on the day of hearing and will be returned to practitioner in court.

From 14th March 2022 any Booklets sent in by post will be returned with the notice attached. Booklets will not be taken in at the Counter in the Dublin Civil Office or Dublin Circuit Family Law Office.

From March 1st Dublin Personal Injury List to Increase Number of Cases Listed Per Day by 5

Due to the lifting of Covid Restrictions and the Assignment of an additional Judge, the Dublin Personal Injury List will increase the number of Cases listed per day.

From the 1st March 2022 five extra cases will be added to the daily List.

Applications to have cases listed or to have urgent cases re-assigned from a listing later in the year can be made by email to the Registrar Margaret Mulligan or to the List Judge at the daily callover. If an application to move a listing or obtain a hearing date is being made the other side should be put on notice of this.

Notice Regarding County Registrar Possession Civil Bills

The Courts Service have announced that the Dublin Civil Office will list the County Registrar Possession cases remaining outstanding from cancelled lists. These matters will be listed on a staggered basis in Court 27 from February 2022 onwards until all have been dealt with.

  • The list on the 3rd February 2022 will include outstanding matters with original return dates of 26th March 2020 until 18th June 2020.
  • The list on the 10th February 2022 will include further outstanding matters from the 18th June 2020 until 16th July 2020.
  • The list on the 17th February 2022 will include outstanding matters from the 30th July 2020.

Court of Appeal Resumes Physical Hearings

Please note, from Monday the 24th of January 2022 the Court of Appeal resumed hearing all Appeals by way of a physical hearing unless otherwise directed by the Court. However, the Court of Appeal Office in Áras Ui Dhalaigh is remaining to conduct business by appointment only,

President’s Announcement Re Supreme Court Arrangements for Hilary Term

The Supreme Court proposes that the hearing of appeals in January will be held remotely. This is necessary in light of the present and anticipated impact on staff, judges, lawyers and litigants of Covid 19 and in order to protect the health of all persons coming to court.

Parties will be provided with remote hearing access details and the Guidance and Protocols concerning such hearings remain in force.

Any party is entitled to make an application for a hearing to proceed in person.

Case management hearings and other court business will continue to be conducted remotely.

The position in this regard will be kept under review and it is intended to return to in person appeal hearings as soon as that is feasible.
