We wish to advise that our offices will close for the Christmas break on
Friday the 23rd December 2022 at 1.00 p.m. and will re-open on Tuesday
the 3rd January 2023 at 9.00 a.m.
If you are planning to send anything of an urgent nature, please ensure that you
send it in time to reach us no later than first post on Wednesday the 21st
December 2022, as we cannot guarantee that anything received after that date
will be processed and returned to you, before Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

Cork Personal Injuries List, (Wednesday 11th January 2023 to Friday 20th January 2023)

There will be a callover of all cases set down for the Cork Personal Injuries List on Friday the 9th December 2022 Physically in Courtroom 1, Cork Courthouse, Washington Street, Cork  at 10.30 a.m before Mr Justice Hanna to fix dates for the Sittings commencing on the 11th January 2023. Please note as per the notice contained in the List, where there is no Appearance by either party in matters set down for trial prior to the 9th December 2021 (up to and including List Number 19529CK) the Notice of Trial may be Struck Out.

Mr Justice Hanna has indicated that this List will be held physically but if parties have a genuine difficulty it will be possible to log in remotely to deal with matters using Mr Justice Hanna’s VMR.

If you require us to attend or make an application on your behalf you should forward your instructions to reach us no later than 1.00pm on Thursday 8th December 2022. No instructions will be taken on the morning of the callover.

When forwarding instructions please ensure to include all the following information;

  1. Title and List Number of the action.
  2. The party for whom you act.
  3. When the matter was set down.
  4. The reason physical attendance is not possible.
  5. If the application is on Consent of the other parties or on notice. (If on notice please advise the date on which they were notified of the application being made).
  6. If an order is being sought please set out what is to happen with the Costs.
  7. If the matter is to be adjourned please provide full and detailed instructions of the reason for the adjournment.

High Court Practice Direction 117 – Update to Masters Court

The President of the High Court has issued a Practice Direction which comes into effect from December 5th 2022 and amends the jurisdiction of the Master.

A summary of the changes are:

  • The Master will sit physically from Tuesday to Friday
  • The Master will now hear applications for Summary Judgment
  • The Master will now hear Discovery motions
  • The Master will now review Family Law Special Summonses before transferring them to the High Court Family Law List

List Room Book Lodgement Cut Off and Updated Opening Hours

We wish to advise that the Courts Service have mandated the below cut-off times for the lodgement of books in the List Room and updated the List Room opening hours.

If you intend to send books to our office, please ensure that they reach us no later than two hours prior to the cut-off time to ensure on-time lodgement. We will always endeavour to lodge all books in advance of the List Room cut-off time, irrespective of our own two hour deadline.

Please note, that the List Room will not accept books later than the below cut-offs without prior approval.

If requesting Pearts to lodge books after the stated cut-offs, please note the below:

  1. Please send an email to registrars@courts.ie requesting permission to lodge books after the cut-off. Please ensure to include details of the case record number, the list it is in and date it is listed.
  2. Once approval has been given by the Courts Service for late lodgement, please provide said approval email to Pearts and we can assist with lodging the books in the list room.

Re: Limerick Personal Injuries List Sitting at Ennis, (Monday 20th June 2022 to Friday 1st July 2022)

Colleagues please note, a Positive Callover of matters set down for the Limerick Personal and Fatal Injuries List will take place on Wednesday the 1st June 2022 remotely at 10 a.m to fix dates for the Sittings commencing the 20th June 2022. As this is a Positive Callover, where there is no Appearance by either party the Notice of Trial will be Struck Out.

The Registrar will initially call over the first 400 cases in the list or as many cases as are required to reach the quota of 140 Cases, if this number is not reached the balance of the list will then be called over until the figure has been reached.

If you require us to attend or make an application on your behalf you should forward your instructions to reach us no later than 4.00pm on Monday the 30th May 2022. No instructions will be taken on the morning of the callover.

This will be a Positive callover for all matters which were set down for trial prior to the 27th October 2020, where there is no Appearance by either party the Notice of Trial will be struck out.
